Over the last few years, Stop Food Waste Day has reached over 10 million consumers. It unites 30 countries from Australia to Japan, from Turkey to the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, through Canada, the US and Brazil. The country teams of Compass Group get lasting support, ranging from training and resources, so they can focus on reducing waste, build partnerships to donate food to local communities and create awareness for food waste in the home. Compass Group has pledged to reduce waste with 50% in 2030, in agreement with the ‘Sustainable Development Goal 12.3’ of the  United nations.

In collaboration with Green Dish and the University of Wageningen, we have developed sustainable dishes. The new recipes are healthier, reduce food waste as well as meat consumption and have a smaller environmental impact.

Less environmental impact.
The new recipes have accomplished a large growth in vegetable consumption. This growth results in an annual saving of 4.721.000 kg CO2 production and 1.863.500.000 liter water. This alone equals 1180 tours around the world by car or 41.400 persons taking a shower every day for a year.

Annually 3,5 million people die from a lack of clean drinking water. Still today 2,7 billion people suffer frequently from a lack of clean drinking water. For 780 million people this situation is permanent. This is 46 times the Dutch population. Together with Made Blue, we invest in drinking water projects in places where clean drinking water isn’t a given. Think of water wells, purifying systems and pipelines to transport clean water from the mountains to lower situated villages. Of course, it is also important to become conscious about our own water usage in the Netherlands, that’s why in collaboration with Made Blue and Coca Cola we donate liter water for every liter we sell.

To accomplish social impact for refugees we train status holders to work in our company. A status holder is a refugee who has gained a residence permit. This creates opportunities from education and to work on the Dutch job market.
